Tasdance has a long history of supporting dance practice and dance artists. Since expanding to become Assembly 197, we are delighted to offer residencies across all art forms.

The tranquil setting of our spacious studio, charming cottage, and heritage garden provides artists with much-needed time and space for reflection, invigoration, collaboration, and response. Tasmanian regional practice is inspiring and an opportunity to unlock new ideas.

TRIP (Tasmanian Residency for Independent Practice) is far more than a generous allocation of studio time. The program allows artists to take full advantage of everything Tasmania has to offer, from the rugged coastline of the West Coast to the world heritage forest of the Central Plateau to MONA in Hobart.

TRIP celebrates everything Assembly 197 from our home in Tasmania, the bespoke state of Australia.

What we can offer

TRIP residents will have access to the Assembly 197 Studio (14m x 12m sprung floor with Tarkett) and accommodation in the on-site Cottage. Travel and other expenses are the artist's responsibility.

Our SESSIONS events are an exceptional way to conclude residences and share work in development with an audience.
