Caitlin Mewett

Caitlin Mewett is an emerging dance artist based in Naarm/ Melbourne. Excited by the peculiar, her practice utilises movement to challenge comfort and physical limitations. She aims to amalgamate precision, intricacy, distortion, strength and mundane activity to produce foreign dialogues and the uncanny. In 2021 Caitlin graduated from the Victorian College of The Arts (VCA). Here she worked with artists Anna Smith, Meryl Tankard, Vincent Crowley, Alice Dixon, Caroline Meaden, Luigi Vescio, Linda Sastradipradja, Amrita Hepi and Daniel Riley. She was the recipient of the Agnes Robertson Dance Entry Scholarship in 2019 and the Lionel Gell Foundation Scholarship in 2020. In 2021 she performed Naree Vachananda’s Lucent in the National Gallery of Victoria Triennial Festival. Caitlin’s first year post graduation has seen her work with Antony Hamilton for Chunky Move’s season of Rewards For the Tribe, part of the 2022 Rising Festival. She has also begun working with Lucy Guerin Inc. She performed an excerpt of Here We Have It by Amrita Hepi at Next Wave. Caitlin is also a 2022 artist of the Emerging Choreographers Program by Dance House where she is mentored by Stephanie Lake.
